The introduction of the Websocket protocol marks an interesting milestone in the evolution of the web. Finally, it is possible for a web page to open a full duplex connection with a remote server and asynchronously receive data without having to poll for it. This opens the door for plenty of ideas to be easily doable through a web front end using an efficient and low-cost server side-solution.

In the project place, we present a Websocket server application and we showcase its interaction with a webpage. The solution is based on a real time communication library that was previously published at Codeplex : Push Framework. The protocol layer is devised in an independent library project that can be easily reused by developers.
